GONZO my Freedom 25 yacht:
This blog will document the continued restoration of my 1982 Freedom 25 sailboat, along with all the experiences I have. I purchased my F25 in the winter of 2009 from the 3rd owner who had the boat in NH. Gonzo has a composite rotating winged mast, yanmar inboard diesel, a Gun Mount spinnaker pole and staysail. This is my 1st cruising sailboat and I look forward to learning how to maintain and slowly restore and sail in Narraganset.

Harrstick sail upgrade:

I have gottan a used Sobstad Freedom 25 sail, the sail came with out battons, after calling around to a few sail lofts I decided to go to Harrstick who is local and worked on the orig sail design for Freedom back in 1982. After a full inspection of the sail, the sail was is great shape for the age but I learned that the sail was originaly designed to have the battons sewn into the sail permently. With Harrstick's help I've decided to upgrade the sail to modern tech and use more modern battons which will allow me to remove and brick the sail and adjust batton tension. I hope to pick up the sail in about a week and will give a full update with pics.
